Early Life and Youth Career
Jonas Kurt Urbig was born to Martina and Kurt Urbig in Euskirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany Born on August 8, 2003. His father, Kurt Urbig, was also a goalkeeper, playing at the amateur level for TSC Euskirchen. Inspired by his father, Jonas developed a passion for football and goalkeeping early in life and sought to pursue his dreams as a youngster.
At the age of nine, he attended a try-out at 1. FC Köln, one of Germany’s most respected football academies. Impressed by his talent, the club accepted him into their youth system in 2012. Club Career
1. FC Köln and Loan Spells
Jonas Urbig developed through Köln’s ranks and gained professional experience through loan moves to the 2. Bundesliga.
- Jahn Regensburg (2023): In January 2023, he joined Jahn Regensburg on loan, making his professional debut in a 2–0 loss against Darmstadt 98. He quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper but returned to Köln after Regensburg’s relegation at the end of the season.
- Greuther Fürth (2023–24): In July 2023, Köln extended Urbig’s contract until 2026 and sent him on a season-long loan to Greuther Fürth, where he continued his development in the 2. Bundesliga.
Move to Bayern Munich (2025)
